Jana Walters

Who are you?
My name is Jana Walters. I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with my husband, Brian, and dog, Kya. I’m a communications specialist with CHS Cooperative, where I’ve worked for five years.

Describe your role.
I communicate to internal and external CHS audiences about changes to processes, technology, or people. I am successful when my audience understands how a change will impact them, the benefits, when it will occur, and when individuals arrive at “acceptance” on the change curve.

What’s your favorite thing about working with cooperatives?
Nothing can beat sharing in the company’s financial success by distributing patronage to our customers/owners each year. Cooperatives also tend to have a teamwork and family mindset that makes everyone around you work towards the same goal. For CHS, that goal is to help our owners grow.

When did you join CCA? Why?
I joined CCA just recently, in February 2019. I am looking to personally develop and learn from others in the cooperative industry.

What are your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy baking, DIY projects around the house, volleyball, and playing with my dog

Do you have a “bucket list”?
I’d love more states within the US, go snorkeling in the ocean, and visit Australia, among other things.

Tell us something about yourself that is surprising or that most people don’t know.
In high school, my friend and I won the Minnesota FFA State Convention Talent Competition with a performance of “Piano Man” by Billy Joel. I played piano and my friend sang and played the harmonica.
