Describe your role.
As the Manager of Marketing, Communications and Education for Choptank Electric Cooperative, my role is to inform our members and the public about what their local electric co-op is doing for the community, provide energy efficiency and safety information, and promote our benefits and programs in a direct, creative way. I also love storytelling and sharing the positive experiences of our members through multiple channels.
What do you enjoy about working with cooperatives?
I love the concern for community principle of cooperatives the most. I’m lucky to work for a cooperative that I grew up a member of and continue to serve the community where I was born and raised! It’s rewarding to work with friendly faces.
When did you join CCA? Why?
I joined CCA in 2020 to connect with other co-op communicators and branch out with new ideas. The networking portion and Connector Groups are the most beneficial in my opinion. I’ve really enjoyed leading the Writing & Publications Group!
Did anything surprise you about CCA upon joining?
I was surprised at all the various co-op industries represented at CCA. I previously worked for an agriculture cooperative and thought I’d be interacting primarily with electric co-ops, but there are so many more involved.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy being with my family on the Chesapeake Bay or at the beach and cheering on the Clemson Tigers during football season!
Do you have a “bucket list”? What are some of the things on that list?
Visiting Italy with my family is definitely at the top of my bucket list.
Give us something about yourself that is surprising or that most people don’t know.
I used to volunteer at my local animal shelter as their intake animal photographer and writing the descriptions for the website. It was my favorite day of the week and where I met my dog 9 years ago! He came home with me the same day he came in.
