Trent Vollstedt, Social Media & Marketing Specialist at New Century FS
How long have you worked with cooperatives?
I began working at New Century FS, Agriculture & Energy Cooperative almost 10 years ago. I spent 3 summers interning in various roles and I started my full-time career with them 6 years ago.
Describe your role.
I spend my time managing our social media accounts, creating content, planning events, recruiting, organizing marketing materials and many other daily tasks.
What do you enjoy about working with cooperatives?
Each day is different and brings new opportunities. The people are the best and the culture makes for a family-oriented work environment.
When did you join CCA? Why?
I joined CCA this past January. I joined to develop new skills as a marketer and get involved with my peers. Also – CCA member, Katelynn Baer talked CCA up so much, I just couldn’t resist. 😊
Did anything surprise you about CCA upon joining?
At my first institute, I was surprised by all the topics that were carefully selected for development skills. Everyone was so welcoming and kind.
How has CCA supported you in your career?
The connector groups and institute have allowed me to bring new and exciting ideas back to my co-op.
What are your hobbies and interests?
My hobbies & interests include yearly ski trips to the Rocky Mountains, competing in competitive volleyball, and spending time outdoors with my husband.
Do you have a “bucket list”? What are some of the things on that list?
To travel and see new places around the world.
Give us something about yourself that is surprising or that most people don’t know.
We have 2 cats, Jax & Mango and a corgi named Jordy.
What advice would you give to professional communicators just starting their careers?
Lean on your peers anytime you can, be open to learning new things, and ask questions.
